How SwapMyFile handles uploads, job metadata, retention windows, and abuse controls in the current launch scope.

Last updated: April 1, 2026

What we process

We process the file you upload, basic request metadata needed to operate the service, and job events such as upload, scan, processing, and download readiness.

Basic conversions still do not require an account. If you create one, we also store your email, display name, plan tier, session token state, and links to your signed-in conversion history.

How files move through the system

Uploads are validated, moved into quarantine storage, checked by the security stage, and then passed into the conversion runtime.

Downloads are exposed through signed links with an expiry window instead of permanent public URLs.

Retention and deletion

Conversion files are kept only for a limited retention window and are scheduled for automatic deletion after expiry.

Operational logs may be retained longer when needed for debugging, abuse handling, or reliability work, but they should not be treated as a permanent copy of user content.

Security and abuse controls

We restrict the allowed format set, validate file intent, and run a scan stage before conversion.

We may reject, throttle, or block requests that look malicious, abusive, or outside the product scope.

Policy updates

If the product scope changes materially, we will update this page to reflect new storage, processing, or account features.
